Seeking Affordable July-August Rental - SchipolCountry forums / Western Europe / Netherlands
Hello, We have a unique opportunity to visit the Netherlands for July-August (semi-work related). Online accommodations are a bit pricier than expected. Can anyone provide good resources (or recommendations) ??? Thank you
Please state the duration, type of accom, amount of people and what your budget is. | 1
We are a couple with a well behaved 5 year old child. Wife needs access to Shipool offices and was hoping to be relative short commute distance w/o car. Duration equals two full months of July&August (possibly late June as well). Need furnished 2 BR, kitchen and Wi/Fi access. Budget not to exceed 2200 euros/Mo including utilities. (Wife leans heavy on cleanliness standards). Thanks in advance | 2
Give Vesteda a call. The ' New Amsterdam ' complex in the Zuidas district has short stay appartments. Schiphol will be 10 minutes away by train. | 3
Good suggestion, thank you Yorick, am following up with them. We are very excited to come see Europe again. | 4
Have a look at the small city of Leiden which has quick train connections to Schiphol and is probably not as overpriced and crazy as the Amsterdam housing market. Even The Hague (Den Haag) is still doable as far as train connections go, and probably has an international scene, what with the international justice court, the Dutch government, some embassies and offices like that in town. You may want to rent officially through an agency that rents out apartments/ houses to expats, or try to find someone / a couple who are going on holiday and are looking for house sitters / pet caretakers. July and August are high season for tourism so hotels are probably too expensive. Also check out www.expatica.com. | 5
Great suggestions Ceclia. We are researching our options and definitely including Leiden. Thank you. I agree with the recommendation to utilize official resources...most of Craigslist ads appear to be full of rental scams (It's a shame as one cannot weed through legitimate postings remotely) . | 6
