Running for safety ...... BULLS!

Country forums / Western Europe / Spain

Hey everyone

Just about to embark on a trip that has no time restraints. I am really really keen to be in spain on the 7th of july for the running of the bulls!

Does anyone have advice on accomidation where its held?

Also any advice related, if anyone needs someone to run with let me know!

cheers

Get out there and get amoungst it..........

Ha ha! You could try to book something for 2008, maybe :-)

Otherwise, (try to) sleep in a park or stay in a nearby town (Estella?) or city (Zaragoza, LogroƱo...)

I'm not sure why people think they can put themselves infront of herd of bulls and nothing will happen. The locals train the whole year round and still often end up skewered.

2

well #2 i guess some people love to challenge them selves and live life on the edge you should join in and have a run :)

3

Have you considered the possibility that this event is not as nice for the bulls as it is for the fools?

4

Don't think it's really "nice" for anybody!

#3: On the off chance you don't become a casualty I look forward to seeing your name in the inevitable news report about the tourist who got a little too excited and threw themselves off the top of the fountain and unfortunately wasn't caught.

6

They still bother to write about them in news reports, do they? :-)

Do a TT search (top of this page) for "Pamplona"; "San Fermin"; "San Fermines". There have been loads of posts on this topic already this year.

Thanks for the offer of running with you. If I wanted to run with someone, I certainly wouldn't do it with a first-timer - no offence intended but this event is dangerous. Ever seen a bull? Now try to imagine several panic-stricken bulls coming up fast behind you as you try to run away. The locals take this very seriously (I'm sure you can understand why) and know all the escape routes, hiding places, bottlenecks and so forth. You'll know nothing so I'd choose to run with a local.

Some didn't make it in 2006. Take heed.
