parking a car in Amsterdam reasonnable price or FREE

A bunch of friends have decided to drive too Amsterdam next April beginning of May (driving with for being cheaper than flying)
As everyone knows accommodation are "priciest" even cheapest range.

But, the most difficult is too find a place to park the car for 4 daysnot too far from down town or to a place where it is easy too reach it

Anyone would have a tip 2 or more about this problem.

€ 8,-- per day, max. 4 days: relatively cheap, edge of the town, free tickets public transport to centre and return.
In or near centre: very expensive (might be €5 per hour, depending on A-location or ...but as I stay away there.

if any one has any idea concerning accommodation for 4 nights quite welcome. it seems that all the Rothschild family is living in Amsterdam.
our budget twin room for no more than € 70
note we check some hostel but were fully booked.
very hard to find especially twin room, it seems that most room left are for single in April.

If you park out at the end of the local train line on (I think it's) line 9 - but I might be wrong, there is free parking there. The train takes about 25 minutes to get back to Centraal from there.

There is some free parking in and around Amsterdam, but not much.
Before mentioning where it is, I must point out that leaving a car with foreign license plates for a couple of days in any of the places mentioned below is not a smart thing to do.
Guarded places like P+R, as suggested by #1 and #2, are to be preferred!

• some parts of Buitenveldert are free, notably the area south of van Nijenrodeweg. In theory you can park within walking distance of Van Boshuizen metro or RAI railway station. There is a big free parking lot located at Bosbaanweg
• at/near Diemen-Zuid railway station. In fact, most of the office park at Diemen-Zuid is free.
• most of Amsterdam-North is free; but none of it is convenient for public transport. One notable exception: the former NDSM wharf. You can take a free ferry from there to central station.

In addition to the post above about the free options:

A bit further south from tramstop 5 and metro 51 at the Boshuizenstraat (just at the border with the suburb Amstelveen) is the student campus Uilenstede with a lot of free parking, next to the tramstop Uilenstede.

Three stops further south (stop Onderuit) also has a big parking next to the tramstops.

Tram 5 and 51 go in 20-30 minutes to central station.

When are you coming over? The P+R might be pretty full on 30th April because it's Queensday.

There is a parking garage at IKEA Haarlem, open 24/7 for FREE
This is a 12 minute ride from Amsterdam Central Station.
Last ride back to Haarlem is normally around 1.30 am

Public transport to/from Amsterdam on Queensday is usually a nightmare.
