Looking for small Hotel

Looking for small Hotel on the Costa del sol for me and my 11 year old daughter. In August for 2 weeks.
Haven’t been to this part of Spain . And don t wish to stay on a large complex.
I’ve tried looking on the internet with no luck, mostly villas and apartments for 4 - 6 people.
Doesn’t have to be near the beach as we will have car hire. If any one has stayed in a small hotel in this area who can recommend to me would be much appreciated.

As touristy as Costa del Sol is the "typical" accommodation will be resorts and villas. If you make an effort I think you will find something more cosy. I always recommend rural hotels as you get a more personalized treatment from the owners, better value for money and a place with more character. Book now for August - it'll be insanely busy.
I won't get into my personal reasons for disliking Costa del Sol - your mind seems to be made up. If you'd like to know the reasons please PM me.

Hostal Mena in Nerja? It's very inexpensive most of the year (€35 a double), but probably quite a lot more in August.

Or if you don't mind not being at the beach, why not try a pensión up in the hills of the Axarquía behind Nerja? It will be low season there, as many tourists go to walk.

I agree with NavajoRug, completely, absolutely. My advice is to use this rural tourism page, too.
