Lisbon airport busCountry forums / Western Europe / Portugal
Hi all, | ||
If you look here, you see Rua de Alegria is not far from Restauradores where there is an airport bus stop. As I recall, there were specific bus stops -- maybe you need the one before? | 1
Yes, the bus has specific stops, you want the red line: http://www.golisbon.com/transport/airport-shuttle.html B in this map is where you are going? Residencial Alegria? Rua das Pretas cuts from Avenida da Liberdade to Praca Alegria. Get off stop "Av da Liberdade", there is a dot matrix board on the bus which tells you which stop is coming up next plus an announcement. (Wait for the picture/map to load) Your stop is particularly easy as the previous one is just before a huge roundabout at Marques de Pombal so as soon as you've gone round the roundabout and start going down Av da Liberdade your stop is next. Even if you miss the stop the next one at Restaurodes is not that far from where you're going. | 2
I think you may find that street is also called Praça da Alegria. | 3
Thanks so much to all of you - all is now clear. I now see that this bus goes to Entrecampos also. I am planning to take the train to Faro and beyond - the train seems to stop at both Gare do Oriente and Entrecampos. Would this bus be a good connection or is it better to take the subway? ie I don't want to miss the train as they are not that frequent! | 4
A taxi from teh airport would cost you ~€5.... they are very cheap in Lisbon. | 5
#5 - when's the last time you've taken a taxi Lisbon? I've been there three times in the last two years, going again next Wednesday and a taxi to/from the airport is at least 20, and that's not even to the centre of town! 5 euros would get you about a block! | 6
Re: Entrecampos fro the train: get the metro. Super easy, one stop from Avenida (blue line, where you are staying) north to Marques de Pombal and then the yellow line to Entrecampos. Actually there's a handy map on the metro pages for where you're staying, the bus stop is marked on it: http://www.metrolisboa.pt/Portals/0/pdfs/mapasEstacoes/linhaAzul/av_aid.pdf The Aerobus is number 91 All of the stations on this map are "clickable" and give you maps of the local area | 7
#6 - August 31st 2009 and the 4th September 2009. From here to here. First trip from the airport was just over €5 and the return trip was about €6-7. The cab from the airport we picked up from the departures terminal after it had dropped someone off, apparently this is quicker than going to the rank outside the arrivals terminal. | 8
I find that very hard to believe! Well, it seems I've been ripped off left, right and centre over there then! I'll see next week if can get anywhere for 5 Euro! | 9
Well, I've very little motivation to lie about it. Seems you're not the only one to be ripped off. | 10
Pepi, I hope you don't mind my butting in but this thread comes up on my screen because I'd posted on it. If someone said to me "I find that very hard to believe!", I'd take that as meaning that they were calling me a liar. Just my take on this, of course. However, scaryant's link seems to bear out what s/he posted in #5 and 8. | 11
The airport bus is useless if you are two or more, not a great bargain even if you are alone. Depending on the hour, a taxi from the airport to the center goes from €5 (had this last december) to €11 (rush hour/slow traffic - had this last June) and usually somewhere between 6 and 8 (had this last week) | 12
11#, well observed, that's exactly what I meant! Well, I'm just an idiot then for taking the taxi drivers word/meter reading for it and paying 20. I'm so glad you worldly wise travellers have showed me the error as my ways as I obviously know nothing. If the taxi's really are that cheap why does anyone bother getting the bus? | 13
"If the taxi's really are that cheap why does anyone bother getting the bus?" "Well, I'm just an idiot" | 14
Lisbon airport official website. The Aeroshuttle (CARRIS Nº96) looks like a good deal. Pepi, a book for you. | 15
Great link.... and should be very helpful for the OP too or for others in future. Pepi please read for your trip; +"There are two taxi stands within the perimeter of the airport, one at arrivals and the other at departures. So, based on my gmaps link (distance of 7.2 km) would equate to.... oh! €5.52! | 16
Well I can't thank you all enough, particularly Pepi for the very useful maps to print off. I think I will avoid the taxi as you've given me such clear info for the bus and I see that I can use that ticket for the next 24 hrs too. Taxis are a risk anywhere - try Melbourne, once my home town - last visit I had to cough up $110 for a trip from the airport which should have been about $65 but the driver got (very) lost as they all do there. | 17
I came in to Lisbon late/tired but had been warned about the taxi drivers trying to rip off passengers- so when I arrived at the hotel on Libertade and he said 20 € I refused and asked to see the meter which he "forgot to turn off! I said I would check w/hotel and he magically dropped the price to 10€!!!! | 18
Yes the bus is cheaper there's another bus# esides the airport bus that goes to the airport but schedule is ? and both routes are slow /winding. | 19
Hehe, sarcasm is really lost on you people isn't it? Well, the bus from the airport was chocka block so seems there are plenty of idiots who still use it...I'll be sure to tell them next time that they are all dimwits for not getting a taxi. Personally I like to use the Aerobus as it happens to stop right outside the hotel I always stay in. The other buses that are handy for getting into town from the Airport are 44 and 45 but they take ages as they've longer routes and stop more frequently. | 20
Pepi, did it ever occur to you that it might be your lack of humour that's the problem, rather than people not 'getting' your sarcasm? In other words, instead of blaming others, how about a little introspection on your part? | 21
Still 5 euro is it? (Not the vouchers, the actual metered price they charge!) http://www.lonelyplanet.com/thorntree/thread.jspa?threadID=2094374 Yeah. Didn't think so. | 22
That's what you call patience - waiting nearly 2 years to reply to a thread! | 23
Blagger, you should have waited til 2013 ;-) | 24
