Hi) I'm going to Madeira at the beginning of November and I'll have less than 2 hours between the flights to change the terminals at Lisbon airport (from Term 1 to Term.2), as I'll fly by TAP from Moscow I guess they will transfer my luggage themselves, so can you advice me: is 1,5 hours enougth for changing terminals or I have to book next flight to Funchal with more time between? Thank you in advance,
Lisbon airport is fairly small. 1.5 hours should be enough if your flight from Moscow is on time. If it´s not, TAP will probably get you on the next flight to Madeira. There are several daily flights, so you´ll be OK. | 1
You'll have enough time for a couple of beers in between your flights (assuming your flight is on time). | 2
Amount of time ok if plane on time. | 3
Thank you, guys, for assistance, fortunately I've bought "one" ticket and never had problems with immigration control before, so I really hope this is not my case:-)) | 4
You'll be okay - don't worry too much. Enjoy your trip! | 5
Both times at Lisbon airport-different times of day-going through security/passport control took a long time.Lines were backed up. Won't you have to go through passport control, pick up your luggage,go through customs, then put your luggage through to the connecting flight? | 6
#6 - Since OP has bought one ticket, check-in luggage will be checked in all the way through from Moscow to Madeira. She will only have to clear immigration at Lisbon. | 7
In the States you go through passport control, collect your luggage and go through customs. Then you take your luggage to the airline you will be taking for your connecting flight. It's always the first place you land. | 8
#8. You are right about the States and it is as you say. But I have never experienced this in the EU, even while coming in from non-European countries. | 9
#9: Note that Madeira is a part of Portugal. That is Lisbon-Madeira is a domestic plane!!!! The most probable is in Lisbon - so that the experience ill be a like the complicated US system where the cathegory "transit passenger" does not rwally exist.. | 10
I travelled a lot to EU many times before and never collected my luggage on the transit stop even in the cases I booked the flights from Russia by different air companies;-/ I hope the common rules didn't changed last 2-3 years:-))) | 11
#10. Yes, I know that Madeira is in Portugal and that consequently the Lisbon-Madeira leg will be a domestic flight. But because there is currently no direct flight from Moscow to Madeira, immigration will take place at Lisbon since in this case it's the first point of entry into the European Union/Schengen states both of which Portugal is a member. The ideal situation from a passenger's point of view/convenience is, of course, for the process to take place at the final point of disembarkation but...... that's not how governments look at it :( | 12
