Linderhof Castle

Country forums / Western Europe / Germany

Is it necessary or advisable to book a tour of Linderhof Castle? I ask because it is not possible to book over the internet and the booking form provided on the Linderhof website seems to be aimed at groups, rather than individuals.

You don't really need to book a tour at Schloss Linderhof if you get there by car. Just show up. There could be a short wait for the schloss if its high season and busy, but not really a problem. If there is a wait you can wander the grounds and fountains. If you don't have a car, you can find a Ludwig's Castles bus tour from Munich.

It's just not possible to book in advance a tour as an individual traveler. Thus the question if "is it necessary or advisable to book a tour ..." is obsolete.

Thank you. I will catch the train to Obergammergau, spend a few hours there, then travel to Linderhof and buy tickets there.
