Hi there!
I am currently in Athens doing research for my thesis and plan to escape the city for about 3 days to a nearby island. I would like to sleep on the beach without tent if possible and during the day go hiking and/or work a bit on my thesis in a cafe or so.
Do you have any recommendations? Someboday recommended Agistri to me; what do you think?

hi i live in Athens.I suggest you go to Aigina and ask how to go to Moni,a small island that you go by small boat(5eyro).there there is only a beach bar that closes at night and people leave for aigina.you can stay there at night and sleep wherever.there are deer and other animals free on the island also a forest.paradise...

Great, thank you for the recommendation! Do you think I need to bring my own food or will it be possible to eat at the beachbar? Any idea if the beachbar has internet if I want to work a bit? And if services (bar and boats) also go now off-season?
Wild camping is illegal by Greek law. Some areas turn a blind eye on this, but there is a heafty fine in case law is enforced. Agistri on the Argosaronic near Athens was popular, but I just discovered this: http://www.agistrigreece.com/camping-on-agistri/
Please remember than fires on the country side are strictly forbitten on summer season (till October 31rst) too.

this is a blind eye place..i ve been doing it years and not only sleep in the beach..i set up a tent..the boats start at about 9 or 10 in the morning and there is one every one hour.its only a 5 minute ride to perdika.in perdika you get internet and nice taverns and mini markets and everything

you don t have to be afraid at all cause you don t intend to have a tent.sleeping on the beach is allowed everywhere and totally safe, there will be other campers too
sleeping on the beach is allowed everywhere
Do you mean at this place, or anywhere in Greece? Because it certainly wasn't allowed in my student days of backpacking in Greece: sometimes we got away with it in remote locations but several times we got moved on by the police. I thought that was still the case.
