We are going to a gig in Hannover in September. From what I've seen Hannover isn't highly recommended for tourists. However, we have to hang out there Friday - Sunday, with the gig on Saturday night. Anyone got any recommendations for what we should do to kill time? There must be something interesting in or near Hannover, surely?
If you're there early enough on Friday, you could see the VW plant at Wolfsburg. As klaush says, it's easier to make recommendations if you state your interests. | 1
You can visit the Herrenhaeuser Gaerten and Hannover is a university town so a lot of young people | 2
It is Munster not Münster, those are two different places. My BMW 3 series from 1995 (17 years old) was quite cheap, actually, and still goes 200 km/h... but they said they have a "gig" which suggests they are rock stars. Why not hire a BMW 760 Li :-) | 3
hey and if you have the hole weekend go to berlin or Hamburg... it is really close to hannover and easy to reach via train and www.mitfahrgelegenheit.de (carpooling website) | 4
They're on Tour, I don't think they'll use the day-off for even more travelling ;-) For a nice Sightseeing-Tour I'd recommend the Bus 100/200 from Nieschlagstraße (in Linden) to Sprengel Museum (this is where the Lake Maschsee is, too). In Linden you'll find lots of Pubs and Cafés, this is where you'll meet some more "indie" People. From here, you can reach the Parks by feet by just crossing the Leine RIver, go towards FAUST. You can even reach Herrenhäuser Gärten and the Barockgarten from here by just walking down the nice Allée. Doing this, you'll find the University Main Building to your right, the Welfenschloss. If you choose staying in the Bus, you'll cross Nordstadt and Vahrenwald/List, going to the Eilenriede Forrest. You could get off the Bus at Emichplatz to have a look at the HMTMH University of Music, Drama and Media which, seen from above, looks like a big Lyre or Ear. You can take a Walk in the Forrest, which is one of the biggest Inner-City-Forrests in Europe and in fact bigger than Central Park. Going further by Bus will lead you to the Nord/LB Tower, New Town Hall and Sprengel Museum, which is, beneath Kestner Gesellschaft the Place to go if you're into Contemporary Arts. If you buy a Day-Ticket for 4,50 you may use the Busses and Trains of ÜSTRA for the whole day. You can also rent Bikes at some Places (must be somewhere close to Central Train Station Hauptbahnhof), I think the rate is 8 € / Day. Edited by: fabeblau Edited by: fabeblau | 5
Celle is a beautiful mediaeval town and only 20 minutes by train. | 6
