December 4th shopping

Country forums / Western Europe / Switzerland

Dear Swiss,
I've left it a bit late but was hoping to shop in a largish Swiss supermarket on Sunday. It seems they are shut in Basel. Could anyone please tell me if they would be open in a nearby canton? I live in France and want to stock up on SuchardAnd Cailler products for Xmas gifts in Australia.
Many thanks

Go over the border to Germany. Shopping centers are open on sundays in December.

Suchard is no longer a Swiss brand. The factory has been closed long ago and the brand was sold first to Jakobs Kaffee Bremen and then to Kraft Foods Illinois. The so called Suchard chocolate produced by Kraft has absolutely nothing to too with the once famous chocolate from Neuchatel (Switzerland).

Nestle (Cailler) is OK. Don't forget Lindt and Sprungli, one of the best Swiss chocolatiers. He has a shop at the passerelle of the Basel SBB railway station, open Monday to Sunday until 8pm. For all other brands, you may go to Coop Supermarkt Bahnhof Basel SBB, open Monday to Sunday until 10pm.
