Hi. Do anyone has any idea the purchase limit of luxury goods per person in Germany??
......will we be able to get our VAT refund back if our goods are purchase in Germany? Yes but..... Some shops give you a formular what you have to fill out after paying the goods and you will get the VAT back later to your bank account. If not you need to collect all your payment bills to show them, including the goods you bought, at the refund desk. Think about that you can be controlled and dont check in you bags not before asking on the desk. This concern of course only airports in Germany and not Paris. | 1

Yes- but I don't know if a VAT refund is possible for intra-EU travel. He may have to get the refund when he's leaving the EU. We bought something from Austria for which we got the VAT refund at Frankfurt airport, while coming back (to India). | 4
I'm not sure where the writer is from so I will use my personal experience as an American returning to the US. Luxury goods or not you are entitled to bring back to the US $800 worth of goods Duty free. You can bring back whatever amount of goods you like without restriction, however, only the first $800 is Duty free. Above that you must pay taxes. VAT refunds are authorized for unused goods leaving the EU at your departure. For example, if you visit in order Belgium Germany and France, you get the VAT processed in France. It doesn't matter how you traveled between countries, planes, trains, automobiles. How you get your money back depends on the form used by the store you made your purchases. In my experience, most make a refund to your credit card though I have also received cash and once a check mailed to me. One special note, each EU country makes its own rules as to how much you must spend per shop on one day in order to get a refund. Germany was fairly low, around 40 euros. Some countries were as high as a couple hundred Euros. If it matters to you ask first. Also note that all stores do not necessarily participate in this scheme, most tourist shops, department stores and chain stores do. | 5
