Artists', writers' district Paris

I would be grateful if someone could let me know which part/area/arrondissement of Paris is a modern-day magnet for writers and artists who move to the French capital from all around the world.

Writer and artists have always looked for the cheapest parts of the city in which to settle. At the moment, those are the 10th-11th-18th-19th-20th arrondissements, with also quite a bit of settlement in the suburb of Montreuil.

Or course, once they've hit the big time, they move to the 6th or the 16th arrondissement with all other rich people.

Artists in Paris? Paris is dead. Go to a 'cooler' city. There's a great art scene in Berlin!
