Apartment for christmas skiing (Kaprun/Mayrhofen)

Hi,
We are 4 young people looking to go to the snow for a week from Dec 26 until Jan 2. We would like to go somewhere within 3 hours travel of Munich (we won't have a car) and want to get a self-catered apartment with 2 separate bedrooms. We are willing to pay up to €1200 for the week. None of us are great skiiers, we are more keen to spend time at the snow than work on our techniques, but we definately want snow fall!!

With this in mind, we have two questions:

1. Can anyone recommend an apartment to us? I am looking for an actual apartment recommendation, not just a town or search service. I have been looking around a lot already at the gazzillion options so am open to a recommendation.

2. I have two offers so far that we are considering. One is in Kaprun (near Zell Am See), the other is in Mayrhofen. Has anyone been to both of these to give us opinions on which they preferred? It seems to me there are pros and cons to both towns (the apartments are very similar). So far, I'm leaning towards Kaprun...
