Aegina

I intend to spend a day in Aegina next week. Is one day too much considering this is low season? How much would it cost me to rent a moped?

Who knows what a moped will charge this time of year! I advise u to ask at one place, and then walk away & ask at another... usually if u walk away they drop the price.

One day isn't too much .... takes a while to get there ... Metro to Piraeus, boarding & waiting to sail & 45 minutes on ferry = 1 hr 15 minutes. Walk to far left of port front as u face inland, and there's the rubble of he temple of Apollo (one fine column manly), there's a tiny museum there, open probably 11 -2 pm. Has a HUUUUGE ali-baba size pot inside. Rent your moped and go see the Temple of Aphaia in mid-island ---- STUNNING setting, you can see the whole gulf. Come back and have a cozy lunch at a waterside taverna, and then wander around the port town --- there's an "old town Section" back a ways. Then take an afternoon ferry back, leisurely no rush.
