Advices on my itiniary please !

Hi , My family of four (2 adults, 2 kids 4 and 8 yearls old) are going to Germany next summer (22-25 days between july 11 and august 20). I need advice on that itiniary (we are very open to any change since nothing is booked yet).
Arrival in Frankfurt (departure from Munich...the contrary can be do for the same price)
car rental in Frankfurt. We want to get around Mosel-rhein for 5 days (Boppard, Cochem Trier, Koblenz and such places).
What about those 2 options ?
1) Return the car to Frankfurt to catch a train to get to Berlin
2) go to Berlin with a night stop and leave the car In Berlin
Berlin 4-5 nights
Berlin -Dresden (2 nights in dresden)
Dresden-Nuremberg 3-4 nights Nuremberg (or a small town not too far from Nuremberg) : daytrip to Bamberg and Wurrzburg
Nuremberg-Munich 4-5 nights Munich ( daytrip to Salzburg)
1) Should we do it another way (Munich first, Nuremberg, Berlin and Moselle valley last ? )
2) Is it too rushed ?

This is the third time in two month that you pose more or less the same question here. What do you want: start the whole process anew or do you want to pose some particular questions. Please be clear about this.

Take the train to Berlin. In this city even with children you dont need a car. Following your trip down south a car is better. If the only question you have "Is it too rushed" the answer is: It depend.

You are right, but since the begining my itiniary change a bi but I will put emphasis on more specific questions:

1) I'm still on the fence about the car. I can read as many people telling that the car is the way to go as people says that if there's one place where the train is great/enough is Germany.

2) I'm trying to know if i'm better to go Munich first or last, since I can fly to Frankfurt and Munich in any order.

TBH, there's absolutely no reason why a combination of train and ferry would not be sufficient for getting around the Mosel / Rhine area, particularly if you base yourself out of somewhere like Koblenz where the two rivers meet.

I too would absolutely not drive all the way across to Berlin, bugger that. Dump the car and train or fly it. If you do fly, it doesn't matter which airport you use, there's not a lot in it when it comes to proximity to the city centre. TXL is quicker but slightly more complicated than SXF.

Agree with that.....leave the car,use public transport and then fly /train to Berlin.

And Munich last...why not? Baviera is IMHO a good way to end....and Munich is a much more interesting city than Frankfurt.

cover any destination between bigger citys by train (inter city or inter city express). If you book in advance, you can get very cheap train tickets, but will be bound to the train you've booked. Your kids will travel for free with this kind of ticket (please check the conditions, afaik these tickets can be changed or canceled for a fee of 15 euros PAX). The intercity express runs through frankfurt airport as well, so it's super convenient.

If you need or want to remain flexible, renting a car is fine, but will be more costly, and considerably slower than the Intercity Express

Well it depend in what you are interested or not. Berlin , Barcelona = same battle. There is so much to visite, to discover, to try, to see that three days is short, too short in my mind.

It does depend on what you are interested in visiting in those places. I live in Germany & if you are only hitting major cities the train will be fine. I love the freedom of a car though. The trains sometimes change schedules and it's very frustrating because they don't usually post it. Renting a car is more costly, but part of the experience is driving here. You get to see the beautiful country side and do small trips along the way.
