9 hour layover CDG Airport

I have a 9 hour layover in Paris (arriving at 10PM), arriving that late at night what can I do in the city if I leave the airport. I know I have enough time to leave just uncertain as to what I can do at that time of night. By the time I get there I'm assuming it will be midnight.

Go to a bar. Walk along the river. Climb Montmartre.

What were you hoping for?

I'm not really sure what I was hoping for to be honest. It will be a Saturday night so I'm thinking there will be people up till the early morning. I know nothing will be open as far as museums go. Thinking I'll just take my camera and tripod and go photograph the city of lights....I looked up Montmartre as you suggested, it looks interesting and will read more on that area.

Does that mean a 7 am departure time?
Or that you have to be back at the airport at 7 am?

If 7am is departure time, you'll need to leave Paris by about 4 am.
I'm not sure that's possible via public transport.
Also, where will your luggage be during all of this?

When will this be? October 7th will be Nuit Blanche when museums are open all night and there are lots of art installations all over the city centre.
If you are interested in cafés/bars, you can check out the area around Place de la République and go east to Oberkampf where there is lots of nightlife.
And what time is your flight in the morning? Check to see how to get back to the airport in time. There is a bus that runs from Gare de l'Est and runs every 30 minutes all night, takes about an hour.

I gave you the link in French for the night bus. The site is also in English but much more detailed and confusing. I believe the RER starts around 5:30am but you have to check this.

Thanks everyone, it will be September 16th. My flight leaves at 7am. My luggage will be at the airport and checked through to next flight.

Take a hotel room at the airport where you can get a late meal, sleep five hours, enjoy the rest of your journey refreshed.

After reading a bit more that is exactly what I plan on doing.
