5+ Days in Portugal. Where to go.Country forums / Western Europe / Portugal
Still need help on the Portugal portion of my trip. Will probably spend 2 days in Lisbon and looking for 1-2 other places for the remaining 3 (or maybe 4) days I will spend in Portugal. Looking for historic walkable towns maybe some beach time but will be early October so don't want to count on it.
Just to avoid any confusion: what happened to the rest of your travel plans? Do you still plan to travel via Porto-Madrid-Sevilla? I think I've already mentioned it on your previous thread, but I'd strongly recommend Sintra, 40 minutes by train from Lisbon. | 1
Not sure about the second part. May use a rental car to go Lisbon-Seville and environs. flight and Madrid probably out, as someone here (and my travel partner) pointed out it never really made much sense especially when other towns are more interesting than Porto. Guess I was getting too distracted by the 1 Euro ticket. Thanks for the reminder on Sintra. I have that down as a potential day trip from Lisbon. | 2
i would just base yourself in lisbon the whole time and do day trips from there. Sintra is amazing, not to be missed | 3
Re car rental: keep in mind that international one-way rentals are usually pretty expensive. It may work out cheaper if you pick up the car in Lisbon, drive it to Spain (but check if the rental company allows this, of course) and drop it off back in Lisbon. | 4
If you want to walk around, head as far south as possible. You can easily take a train from Lisbon to Faro and base yourself there for a day or two to explore some of the southern cities like Tavira. I also highly recommend Sintra, which is only 45 minutes or so from Lisbon by train and well worth a day or two. | 5
Hi! Usefull contact: | 6 | |
You have really nice places not far from Lisbon. | 7
Why going to Spain, Portugal is much cheaper, don't rent a car, take public transports to the south or the north and fly to Madrid from there, between Porto and Lisbon you got several nice cities, also between Lisbon and Algarve, I really think you should also go to Porto, it's completely different from Lisbon and a fantastic city. | 8
