10 days south Portugal

Hi all,

we just booked our flights to Faro for the beginning of april. We are a group of 8 students and have never
been to Portugal before. Therefore my question: Which city or town would be the best to find a house in south Portugal?
We are looking for some good surfing spots and some night life, some nice old buildings and culture
would be good too ;)
Any suggestions?

I believe Lagos is your best option in Algarve. This is supposedly a surfer area though the water was flat when I was there in November.

Cascais, about 25 kim west of Lisbon, is another option. Just west of the town there is supposedly some beaches with famous big waves (also depend on season). Google it and you'll see.
