We have two days left at the end of our 15 day stay in Switzerland in September. Where would you recommend we base ourself before we head off from Geneva. Would you base yourself at Montreux or Lausanne? Could you give reasons as to why you would recommend that town.
Many thanks

Does anyone know when Octoberfest in Zurich will be in 2014? Will be in Zurich in the fall (will not be able to get to Munich...) and would like to arrange business around the Octoberfest dates. Thanks.

Hello Everyone!

I will be moving to Switzerland soon and I'd like to ask anyone who has experience how dogfriendly is Switzerland? Also is it easy to bring a dog there?
Is it possible to bring your dog to cafeterias/restaurants? Shops? How about public transport? Are dog-day cares expensive? Dog-spas? As I'm really into hiking and winter sports, I'd also like to know can I take my dog on hiking trails in the mountains? And into ski resorts? Are there dog-friendly chalet's/hotels in the…

Hi,

We are a couple in our 30s and will be travelling to Switzerland for about 13 days (12 nights) in early May. We will be backpacking and I am trying to firm up bookings for accommodation for the trip. I have roughly decided on the towns where we will be staying for the beginning and towards the end of the trip. However, I still have 2 nights in the middle of the trip for which I am not sure where we should go. Is there any recommendation where we can go which is somewhere between St…

My husband and I will be travelling around Switzerland in September by train and will pass through the following towns. Basel, Bern, Lucerne, Lugano, St Moritz, Chur, Zermatt, Montreuz, Lausanne and Geneva.Which of these towns would you recommend we stay in and for how long? Our stay in Switzerland will be 14-16 days.
Which direction would be better to travel Lucerne to Lugano on Wilhelm Express, Lugano to St Moritz on the Bernina express, St Moritz to Zermatt on the Glacier Express or in the…

Hello all. I have three days in late April to spend in the Interlaken area. I was thinking of spending a day biking from Interlaken to Lauterbrunnen, then back.

I was wondering if anybody had biked that route? Can it be done safely? I wouldn't want to bike that distance with heavy motor traffic to deal with.

Thank you!

hi
Anyone have any advice or experience of going from Switzerland to Italy by train in the summer? We will be staying near Vevey in Switzerland - although could travel from Bern or Lausanne. From there, we want to travel to Tuscany in Italy (nearest town to our final destination is Castelnuovo di val di Cecina, although we could go to Pisa or another largish town and get a hire car there).

From looking at previous posts and the train websites we are currently thinking of perhaps first going…

Hi there
A friend and I are thinking of going to do a 2-3 day hike out of Geneva (reliant on public transport, in March). We hope to bag a peak of some kind - I have experience with ice axe and crampons but not my friend, so we want it challenging but not technical.

We will be wildcamping discreetly and responsibly for 2-3 nights. Any ideas on routes would be gratefully received as so far my research is only offering day and half day hikes.

Thanks for reading :-)

Hi;
I have two weeks to spend in Switzerland. My first question is May or June? Either will work for me I just need to
pick a time. I plan to spend most of my time walking, hiking, or ridding a bike.

Second I would like some ideas on places to stay. I enjoy close to town so I can walk easily into town and enjoy the area
I am not looking for a spa experience. Just comfortable and interesting.

Third does anyone have a must see experience that is not so well known. Like a fun bar, good…

I live in Turkey and have two weeks off at the end of January and beginning of February. I'm thinking of going to Switzerland for the holiday, but I'm wondering if this is the right time of year for me to go. I love the outdoors and I can snowboard a LITTLE, but not enough that I would feel comfortable going out for the day on my own. I would love to go hiking and be outside, but I don't know if that's an option -- Will trails be open, and if so, on what parts of the country would it be best to…
