Just wondering would it be possible to have a day trip from Zurich to Liechtenstein in one day via Saint Gallen. Any ideas please??

It's easily possible by train but why would you want to?

Yes, I did by bicycle, by train you'll have more time to visit THE library in St. G.

After a week in Italy we are going to Zurich on saturday. Flying back to Dublin Monday evening. So Sunday I was thinking a trip to Saint Gallen to see what that Irish Monk set up there. Logistically it seems close to Zurich by train. Also I have a goal to visit all 195 countries in my lifetime. Id never go purposely to Liechtenstein so I said while Im close I might as well pop in to see the Castle in Vaduz!!
Ive looked into it and it seems manageable in one day. Thanks for the confirmation!!!

Have fun and up to 195.
On bicycle I did so only oneway;-)
That Irish monk did a great job, the StiftBibliothek is not very far from the Hauptbahnhof, if necessary ask Irish Darina, living between these landmarks for info.

And in Italy you visited the Vatican and San Marino I suppose.

As the Stiftsbibliothek open at 10:00 you can take the following train.

Zürich 09:09
St Gallen 10:15

St Gallen 13:03
Buchs 13:59

Buchs 14:03
Vaduz Post 14:20

Vaduz Post 17:01
Sargans 17:22

Sargans 17:28
Zürich 18:23

Between Buchs - Vaduz Post and Vaduz Post - Sargans is a Bus.
The rest are trains. For details www.sbb.ch

Thanks very much Mike. Yes I have looked at that website and had planned a similar route. Excellent to know I go by Sargans on the return. I thought I would just be going back Buchs.

Also I missed out on San Marino and the Vatican but I will be back for them in years to come!!!

195? I thought there were more countries than that? Has something disappeared? Can someone post a list please ( just curious, having only been to twenty something - which included Moldovia without me realising it. Duh.
