Hi,

I've just found out that 1st June is a public holiday in Switzerland.(Whit Monday)
Anyone know whether the public transportation( railways, busses etc) are in operation on the day itself?
And what about the excursion up to the mountains?are all still open for visitors as usual?
What are the things to note /to do on Whit Monday?
Are we able to find open restaurants or should we buy our food the day before?

Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks.

Trains, trams, buses, cableways, steamboats, etc. run like on Sundays. All restaurants are open, even those which are usually closed on Mondays. Shops in tourist centers, airports and railway stations are open as on normal Sundays, all other shops will be closed.
There is nothing special to do on WhitMonday: it's just like a normal Sunday.
