I have travelled around this area by train and was very impressed by the beauty but didn't stay overnight. I now would like to go with my family in May but have a few questions?

Where would be the best town / village to stay with a 24 month old child?
Should we drive from London or fly and take the train?
Can anyone recommend a good guest house / hotel?

A flight to Basel, Zurich or Geneva and a train ride from there to Interlaken and your final destination is certainly less stressing than a 1020 km drive.

I prefer staying in Wengen. It has a great view of the Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau with the easiest access to hiking trails and trains to Jungfraujoch, Alpiglen, Kleine Scheidegg, and Eigergletscher. It is a car-free city accessible only by train. My secoond choice would be Lauterbrunnen. It is in the valley below Wengen and Murren. Murren is at a little higher elevation and has a great view. It is also a car-free city but I prefer the trails on the other side of the valley out of Wengen. Have fun. Mike

you don't need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows
