hi, just wondered if anyone can tell me whether its cheaper to book swiss train tickets online or is it the same price if you buy the ticket at the station on the day? cheers, lanifer_1

Swiss Federal railways offer some discounted tickets for domestic travel, but only for certain (often not very attractive) trains and only a few days prior to departure. Have a look at http://mct.sbb.ch/mct/en/reiselust/europareisen/europabillettte/clickraileurope.htm
There is no internet discount for other domestic trains.
But there are often highly discounted tickets in international travel to and through Switzerland.
For railpasses and other reductions, have a look at http://www.swisstravelsystem.ch/ticketverkauf_en.php

Swiss rail passes are great - and lots of different options. Point to point are pretty expensive. The SBB site http://www.sbb.ch/en/ is the one I use, though I haven't purchased tickets with them. The "raileurope" site generally has significantly higher prices. The SBB site gives you point to point prices and timetables - it makes it quite easy to see if a Swiss Rail (or Eurail 2 or 3 country pass) is a good deal for you. We just had fun riding the trains since we had a consecutive day pass.
