Does anyone know a good website or app that covers private accomodation in Switzerland?

I found bnb.ch and will try to get a printed version of their guide, but I somehow have the impression that only a fraction of the available places is featured there.

Most other websites that show up are crap and have just a few offers in Switzerland, if any. Also, there are lot of (good) websites that feature only certain regions and will be hard to find these while on the road.

Also, what's the appropriate term to look for - Privatzimmer? Or the infamous German "Fremdenzimmer"?

You have seen this?

Yes!

The first link mentions just two places in a town like Zermatt and only one place in St. Moritz, which I can't believe is comprehensive, and the second link displays only 14 apartments for the whole of Switzerland...

Here are more than 2700 - http://www.fewo-direkt.de/urlaub-ferienwohnung-ferienhaus/schweiz/r20

Yes, but these are apartments, I'm rather looking for bed'n'breakfast and "privatzimmer" type of accomodation, or pensions. These apartments usually require longer stays and not just a night or two.

Ok, I just have had a look under "Zimmer Frei" what gives this site: http://www.bedandbreakfast.dk/?country=41&language=3

#5 - I appreciate your effort, but the website shows 0 results for St. Moritz and just 2 for Zürich - it's simply useless.

#6 - there are a lot of regional sites like that, but I'm looking for a site or app that allows me to check private accomodation wherever I am in Switzerland. Let's say, I arrive in Gunzwil/Schwanden/Délemont (just random places) tomorrow and want to to know where to stay there (private accomodation). Which site do I go to?

I suppose nothing like that exists... A printed guide would be useful, too, BTW.

Thanks for your replay and sorry about for no results. Did you ask the different tourism offices in the towns you will be? Maybe they knows someone who is not listed or can be reached by the Net.

May be you realized in the meantime that this kind of accommodation is not popular in Switzerland. Extremely few people rent furnished private rooms for less than 1 month.
The printed guide of people who do such things is just the b&b list you mentioned above.
You will have absolutely no problem to get Fremdenzimmer in Austria, however.
