What is Chur like in July? I'll be arriving around 10am, staying at Hotel Drei Könige and look forward to seeing some great historical buildings. What is your opinion of the walking tour that's held on a Wednesday afternoon and what area does it cover? I have looked online without success for info other than the time and price.

The cable car - how long does it take to reach the top and are there any cafes or other once you get there? Any advice on where to eat, looking for traditional Swiss food, not too pricey with a friendly atmosphere. Chocolate - were to find Swiss chocolate?

Souvenirs - where would you go? Would prefer something locally made, is Chur noted for any handcrafts in particular? Swiss watches - any idea roughly on what price I'd be looking at for a lady's watch? I will have one night and leave early the following morning. And also weather - what are the temps like in July and do the nights get cool/cold or stay warm during summer?

Thank you.

Chur is a rather untouristy town with a small historical city center and a good local museum. The main sights can easily be visited within a few hrs.
Swiss chocolate can be bought everywhere in Switzerland. The cheapest Swiss watch bought at a Migros Market may cost about 60 CHF. For luxury watches (for some thousand CHF) you may better go to Zurich or St. Moritz.
Weather is always unpredictable in the Alps. July day temperatures will be somewhere between 15 and 30 degrees centigrade, nights are cooler.
The gondola ride to Brambruesch takes 15 min. Most other cableways in the area go to more attractive peaks.

Thanks meckerdv. Because the main sights are easily visited, would you recommend doing the tour or just go at my own speed? AFAIK, the tour is conducted in German which I don't speak and runs 2.30 to 4.30.

Chur is not so big and has less traffic than other towns so you do the visite by yourself but I doubt that you need some hours for and if you dont understand German it makes no sense to take the conducted tour anyway.
