Hi, I am planning a short trip to Gruyeres (primarily to visit the Giger museum) but was wondering what else I could do? I am arriving in Geneve in early June and plan to stay for three night, so I was wondering what I could do on the way to/back from Gruyeres. Let me know ideas, ta!!
hi hsahota
are you going to stay for 3 nights in geneva and travel to gruyeres from there ? or do you fly into gva and back out of it, and can spend 3 nights "anywhere" in switzerland ?
i dont know where you are from and if you have been to switzerland before. as the giger musem in gruyeres is not excactly on the main tourist highway, i'm just going to assume that you have been to switzerland before. and also that you wont stay for 3 night in geneva.
sorry, i didnt read your post correctly, now i get it.
on the way to gruyeres, you might want to look a small place like rolle (a nice village, castle and vineyards), lausanne for shopping, museums and city atmosphere, or maybe go to montreux and vevey.
You may do a circular trip Geneva - Lausanne - Lavaux vineyards - Palezieux - Chatel St. Denis - Bulle - Broc - Bulle - Gruyeres - Montbovon - Montreux - Geneva.
Alternatives:
Geneva - Lausanne - Montreux by Lake Geneva steamboat.
Montbovon - Gstaad - Col du Pillon - Glacier3000 - Les Diablerets - Aigle - Montreux.
Gruyeres - Montbovon - Chateau d'Oex - Col des Mosses - Leysin/La Berneuse - Aigle.
Places worth to visit in the greater area:
Prangins National Museum, Rolle, Morges, Lausanne, Moleson (bus, cablecar and gondola), Chocolate factory at Broc, Rochers de Naye, Chillon castle.....
Hi,
Gruyeres is such a nice place, the Castle and the old town on the hill gives you an awesome view on the region and the Mountains.
You also have a lot of possibilities to enjoy your time. First I would advise you to go to the Cailler Chocolate factory in Broc, not far from Gruyeres. It's a nice visit where you can eat all the chocolate you want at the end.
Around this area, the Moleson mountain gives you a wonderful panorama and a lot of fun activities to do (in summer especially).
For the surroundings, Lavaux, Lausanne, Montreux, Fribourg or the Alpes Vaudoises (Chateau d'Oex, Les Mosses etc.) The Chateau de Chillon is amazing !
do not hesitates to check those places on www.myswitzerland.com they have quite a lot of information for each destination and also contact numbers.
