I am planning for a family holiday (2 adults and 2 children aged 6 & 4) from 4 to 15 Dec 09. We plan to do skiing for 3 - 4 days and the rest of the days to explore Switzerland. We are looking at apartment to house the family and would need the following advise :

Have a look at http://www.myswitzerland.com/en.cfm/accommodation and the many links you will gind there. Look for a place above 1500 metres and/or for an area with cableways and ski lifts going higher than 2000 metres. Otherwise you risk to have not enough snow so early in the winter. Ski lessons for only 3 days will not bring a lot.
About Skiresorts:
As you go only 3-4 days skiing you don't need the big names.
A very nice town to stay is Albinen.
A was there too when a i was i child. With very narrow alleyways.
And it is small enough that that the kids can explore it by them self.
The skischool would be in Leukerbad 26 min every hour with the postbus.
A other very family ski place is Bellwald.
It is a very small place so everything is close.
The down side off the small size is that they are not so much focus on international tourists.
So the English website is not very informative.
