HI Folks,

SO i need help planning and putitng togather a swiss holiday trip for my wife and kids ( age 2 and 4) and parents (in the late 50's). on the 1st of september. (6 people)

Other then flying into geneva on an early morning flight (around 8 a.m) and flying out on the 7th day on a late evening flight.

i have an open book as far as hotels sigthseeing and anything else goes.

i would like recommendations on putting an itenary togather without having too many hotel changes. 2 or 3 at maximum.(book online)
would like 3 to 4 star hotels in the range of chf200-250 a night.

We want to see interlarken and its surrounding areas , want to experience the much lauded swiss train system, cable cars and cog trains. Trying not to be too amibtious in travel plans.

we are not skiers or any type of sport activity goers so thats not very important to us.
appreciate all your recommendations.
( things i have heard are a must boat ride on lake geneva, golden pass, jungfrau mountain, schlithorn, and Zemmart)

Any recommendations on planning a route ..

Thanks in advance for your advise.

Is this amount for all of you for one night or per room?

I am thinking per room. why is it too low .. its offseason now isnt it? It could be extended to 300 in the real touristy locations.

SWiTZERLAND WITH CHILDREN

As public transport is rather expensive in Switzerland, study carefully the sites about Swiss Pass, Swiss Flexipass and Swiss half fare card: http://www.swisstravelsystem.ch/Tickets.16.0.html?&L=2#s_h_f_c

Check the Swiss Travel System Family Card
The Swiss Travel System Family Card is issued at no cost to parents who wish to take along their children under the age of 16 at no cost. Please note that at least one parent has to travel with the child/ren.

Open the links I sent you and your questions will be answered. Swiss trains run usually every 30 min from 6am until midnight.
Swiss weather in September:
temperatures between minus 10 and plus 25 degrees centigrade, according to the day and the place
It can snow down up to a limit somewhere between 1000 and 4000 metres. In some years and at some places, September can be extremely wet, in other years it can be extremely dry.

the swiss railway system is running on a takt system so you have every half hour a connection, and arriving in a larger city a connection to smaller places.
say your staying in interlaken for 3 nights you´re in one hour in bern and 2 hours in zürich. so it´s a bad weahter option or kind of nice day trip taking the sideline over the Brünig Pass to Luzern.
alternative for the stay in lausanne i suggest places like morges, vevey or villeneuve. they are smaller towns wich means normally cheaper. All three have medieval town strucktures, and you can take boattrips on the lake to lausanne, geneva, chateau chillon etc.
it´s not necessary to stay in geneva to catch the plane, the train connecting the citys is running to the airport.

weather forecast is difficult, bring a rainjacket, a fleece jacket and swimming trunks.

have fun
