Where to stay in Barcelona ?

Hi,
We would like to Stay in Barcelona for some days and Explore the surroundigs. Where would You recommend us to stay ?
Directly in Barcelona or somewhere outside ? Where is the best Base ?

When you want to explore the surroundings, you should find a place close to the main station or near Plaza Catalunia, so as to have two stations near, Plaza Catalunia and Passeig de Gracia. In that area are some very nice appartments available.

The metro network is extensive and works well.There are not a lot of bad places to stay, but these are the neighbourhoods I would not stay:
* El Raval - a bit seedy in parts, noisy
* Gotico - noisy, pricey

Most people stay in El Born or Eixample which are both great. The Poble Nou neighbourhood though is up and coming, cheaper, next to the beach and well connected.

Hii! I would stay near Plaza Catalynya because it's near the main tourit places! And regarding public transportation is very good connected.
