I'm planning to take the overnight train from Granada to Valencia in June. I've been to the Renfe website, but it doesn't stay in English for the whole thing - so I am a little confused. Could someone please explain the different types of tickets e.g. tourist and then the different bed tickets e.g. for 69, 89, 100+

Also I understand if I book online then I will have to pick up my tickets before booking any more. Can this be done anywhere in Spain i.e. we fly into Bilbao - could we pick up the tickets there?

Thanks

Check out the TrenHotel website for more info. But generally, prices would be: 2nd Class (Tourist) couchette 69euros; 1st class cabin single 133.70 or twin 89.30; Grand class cabin single 178.80 or twin 123.10.

You should be able to pick up the tickets at any RENFE office or train station in Spain.

Cheers for that......

I've just been trying to book the tickets on the renfe website and have a couple more queries. I am correct that the cama turista (69 euro) are single sex? Would getting a seat (44 euro) be uncomfortable for the journey i.e. would we get any sleep? Or do you think forking out for the pref. doble (89 euro) would be worth it - being in the same cabin (we are brother and sister travelling together).

Also what type of youth card are they talking about? We have the IYTC (under 26) card - does this count.

Thanks

i seem to be trawling the older information.

on http://www.seat61.com/Spain.htm#Barcelona it shows a gran clase sleeper that has 2 beds in a compartment only. i am keen to book this, but am having trouble finding the info on the renfe website. do i book this in english to see it, or can i only book it when i am in spain? also, the prices show: 85.60, 155.70, 107.70 209.70, 149.70. if i wnat to book 2 beds in a gran clase sleeper (so book the whole berth, how is this done, and what is the cost?

Narcissis, I suggest that you start a new thread with an appropriate title. You'll get more replies that way. Tell people which train you want to take although I think you want Granada - Barcelona, don't you?
