I am going to Spain for three weeks in July. I am flying in and out of Madrid.
We will spend one week at a surf camp, and the rest of the time exploring Madrid and most likely South Western Spain.
We like to hike, small towns, and living cheeply.
Here are my questions:

What are the best places to visit, that aren't so busy this time of year?
Best cheep places to stay and camp. (Hostels or private rooms, I am traveling with my boyfriend we are flexible)
Best towns for surfing, best surf camp?

Any recommendations of things to do, place to go?

And best things to do in Madrid?

Best way to travel, book train tickets on the spot? Bus? Should we book in advanced since it's July?

Thanks,
Tara

golf course... see what I mean?

hike around the arecena (castano del robledo, galaroza, etc) region- it's at least shaded unlike a lot of southern spain. you can easily walk from town to town and find places to stay along the way. it's quite pretty and will fit your criteria.
