Hi Guys,

I am heading to Spain for the first time next year.

We are staying in Barcelona for a few nights, then head off to Ibiza and then off to Alicante.

Can any suggest some 'Must see' and 'Must do' things while we are over there ?

Any advice on language barriers, finding our way around etc ?

Are food and drinks in Ibiza over priced ?

Thanks everyone :)

Obtain a good guide book and do simple research on the internet. You have months. No one on this forum is going to repeat pages of information which is easily accessible to you.

I 'must see' retablo. Is that a 'must do' for you?

As above get some gide books or read up on line.

Use a phone app?

That does depends on where you go. Just like anywhere in the world. So called tourist traps are that is for sure.

Thank you for your replies.
I have been and will continue to research, however, I was hoping for some advice from someone who has recently been that can tell me some things that aren't pasted all over the Internet

I think what @Steph89_Travel is looking for is advice from anyone who has perhaps been there recently and can offer her any insight or suggestions based on their own experiences.

@Steph89_Travel, if you have any specific concerns or questions you have? Or perhaps list your interests?

I have only been to Barcelona myself and I can tell you that I encountered very little language barriers as an English speaker.

While I was there I spent quite a bit of time down at the beach and just walking around the town at night. There is a magic fountain show as well that is quite nice too. If you compile a list of attractions you've seen online and are interested in, I'm sure users on the forum will tell you whether they think they are worth visiting or not.

I hope this has been a bit helpful.

far from, I see you kindly removed my answer. But if you happen to look at my posting history I am willing to help any one who asks the correct question. > Look at this post from todayYour text to link here.... I even took time to phone to help confirm the answer.
These postings with questions which cannot be answered with facts and still we help but the poster even then gives us grief is not good for us old timers.
How can we answer the must sees. Point only to the relevant LP guide book. What are the posters interests, what time of year are they going. I for one would never want to see the fountain even though it is a so called must see, I do not feel it is magical enough!
Language barriers can always be overcome when using apps. Some even scan the words on say a menu and translate. All you have to do is point and say how many. What happened before the interweb, smart phones etc how the hell would some of these travellers mange in those days? I know we had a book to look things up in.
What part of Ibiza is this poster asking about. The "club area" certainly will be over priced. No matter where I go I find locations which are not stings. Finding those is part of the adventure.

PS removing posts was unnecessary There was a recent thread where the infighting was not removed . and am I hissed off at the removal and your response....100%.

Thanks so much.
You have been very helpful.

We are a young married couple (27 / 28 years old) we are interested in beaches, culture, site seeing, beautiful scenery, shopping, partying, etc.

Some things I have researched in Barcelona that I would like to see are;
- Sagrada Familia
- Park Güell
- Palau Reial-Pavellons Güell
- Possibly the football club ?

The magic fountain sounds great! Where will I find this ? Is it something to view at night time ?

In Ibiza all my research has shown me the best clubs to party at and beaches.... not sure if there is more to Ibiza than beaches and partying or not

Thanks again for your help :)

We are going end of May 2017.

Can you suggest some apps to overcome language barriers ? I was not aware such apps existed, this could be very helpful.

We are looking at going on a party boat in Ibiza and also attending one of the big clubs (depending on what DJs are where at what time)
Research has told me the island is quite small and everything around San Antonio is quite expensive, but I was hoping I could speak to someone that could provide some more insight.

Thank you
