Hi,

I feel like we've read the guide books, posted here, and talked to our friends and family who have traveled to Spain and are still a little unsure about our very loose plan. We like to travel without too many constraints and without a militant schedule, but we also like to book our hotels in advance. Could I ask for some feedback on this possible itinerary? I realize the last six days are likely impossible, but these are all places we would like to see, perhaps someone could tell us what should be prioritized.

We like food (WE REALLY LIKE FOOD!), quiet early evenings spent out and about, a few loud late nights, walking and walking, beautiful architecture, markets, beaches/coast, shopping, flamenco, good music, etc.

Thank you very much.

June 29 - Flight arrives 9pm Barcelona
June 30 - Barcelona
July 1st - Barcelona
July 2nd - Barcelona
July 3rd - Depart Barcelona to Figueres to see the Salvador Dali museum in the AM, Cava Vineyard tour in the PM. Late flight to Malaga, train to Granada. (Are we totally kidding ourselves here?)
July 4th - Granada
July 5th - Granada
July 6th - Tarifa OR Cabo de Gata OR Cadiz
July 7th - Tarifa OR Cabo de Gata OR Cadiz
July 8th - Seville
July 9th - Seville - late flight to London

THanks again!

July 3rd looks a tad busy! Why fly from Bcn to Malaga (there is no direct train from Malaga to Granada)? There is an overnight trenhotel which leaves Barcelona at 21:30 getting into Granada at 08:40 - that would save a lot of faffing about. It would also make your Dali and Cava trip more feasible.

Personally speaking I'd spend a day longer in both Granada and Sevilla and not bother with Tarifa etc on your tight timescale.

See renfe for train details - click on the UK flag if you want the English version.

Loose schedule is best. Only 2 days in Bar?

See the Royal Chappel in Granada!

Do you aLREADY HAVE FLIGHTS TO BARCELONA? YOU CAN FLY TO Madrid and experience the ave super rapido train, and you'ld be closer to every place. Bar. is way the hell east of everything else.

Travel slow and you'll get more out of it. And less stress.

I think your 3rd of July is not possible. It takes almost two hours to go to Figueres by train, 15 minutes to walk to the museum, an unpredictable amount of time to wait in line for a ticket, etc.

Stevegerms is the master of understatement when he says that 3 July looks a tad busy. Ericavisser is closer to the mark. Everything else that Steve says I would agree with. The time spent on travel from Granada to Tarifa OR Cabo de Gata OR Cadiz will outweigh any benefits, except maybe Cadiz. Frankly I would spend more time in Seville, one of Europe's great cities IMHO: three days would not be excessive because there's so much to see and do there.

Agree with Steve and Tony, as usual :-)

I believe Spanair has a direct flight from Barcelona to Granada at 8.25pm, which could interest you. I think you can make it, at least Figueras, which is definitely worth it. Try to get your boarding pass through Internet the previous day, and you'll just go directly to the boarding gate.
Regarding Cabo de Gata, I was a little disappointed when I visited it, I wouldn't recommend it in a trip like yours, too hot. Tarifa is great, maybe you have time, I don't know how "fast" you're used to travel. From my experience, a US-citizen would do it, but not an European, it's another way or travelling. Sorry if this generalization offends anyone.
