A very, very, very belated thank you to everyone who offered me advice on this last year! I've been off TT for far too long and only just found my way back.

RCS - Cádiz was amazing. I got on the train from Seville expecting to spend two nights there, and ended up spending five nights.

I know now how Zellturtle felt - ever since the trip I've been aching to go back. I was in Berlin in April, and Havana just a few weeks ago, but Andalucía is still calling me. Granada was spectacular, Seville grew on me after a surprisingly slow start, the Mezquita was magical (albeit the rest of Córdoba not much to write home about) and Cádiz... oh, Cádiz!

Salamanca was cool as well, and Valencia. Madrid was a bit... well, it's a big capital city. And Mercé was Barcelona like I'd never imagined it from my previous trips to my cousins' house. Absolutely mental, the best possible start to what turned out to be the best possible holiday.

Sorry to bump up a year-old thread but who knows, some newbie to the forum might find it useful, and I thought you all deserved a 'thanks'. I took your advice on board and had an absolute blast!

I'd say you're probably best off renting an apartment in Barcelona if you don't want to go down the hostel route! That gives you the best flexibility; go home when you want, sleep when you want and leave when you want. Hostels arent cheap in Barcelona and you can get apartments from around 12-15euros p.p/night.

Good luck
