Hello all you lovely travellers! I am looking for a comfortable, esthetically pleasing, and economical place to stay in San sebastian for a few days in July. Anyone have any tips???

Hello leilani_j!
Should we dare to assume you'll be in San Sebastián-Donostia between July 6 and July 14? Hope not. That's when semi-nearby Pamplona has their San Fermín "Running of the Bulls" Festival and many people, finding themselves literally Locked Out of full lodgings, often stay in San Sebastian and take the bus.
I've only stayed in one place in San Sebastián - Donostia (a.k.a. "San Se"). It was Pensión Donostiarra (web: http://www.pensiondonostiarra.com), located right next to the Buen Pastor Cathedral, about 5 blocks to the beach and 5 blocks to "La Parte Vieja". High-Season rate for a double is 83 Euros. It's in an elegant building in a very nice neighborhood. The Bus Turistic (double-decker sightseeing bus) stops right next to the cathedral.
The above-mentioned establishment is a pensión, a family owned-operated budget hotel. So if this "budget hotel" goes for 83 Euros per night for a double at HIGH SEASON, imagine what HOTELS will cost. Yikes!
Enjoy elegant San Sebastián - Donostia!

Aeesthetically pleasing and cheap in San Se? Sounds like a very tall order to me. This city is a bit expensive!
hard to say, there is an YHI place at the end of the beach (leaving town westward), 500 metres up the road. it is very simple but clean with nice folks around. aesthetical, pleasing and economical is hard to combine especially if i (we) do not know what exactly -economical- means to you? EUR 10, EUR 25, EUR75/night? san sebastian (or DONOSTIA, i thought that was a second town) is one of the most expensive places in the basque country (euskerda?).
please read this sentence:
"I am looking for a comfortable, esthetically pleasing, and economical place to stay in Central London!"
this place would cost around GBP 400/night.
same with san sebastian!

Hi!
this is the youth hostel in Ondarreta:
Albergue Ondarreta La Sirena
Paseo de Igeldo, 25 - 943310268
There are many hostels/pensions in SS but it would be difficult to find a room for july. Last year I made a reservation for a friend in Pension Fanny at 60 euro http://www.pensionfany.com/
Take a look at this web http://www.infohostal.com/guia/guipuzcoa/san-sebastian and good luck! If you need more info, feel free to ask!

Hi leilani_j
It’s true that Donostia is quite expensive but I think you can find something pleasant here: www.donostia.org.
Superlufti2000: Basque Country: Euskal Herria or Euskadi.
Have a good time in Euskal Herria!
