OK, I just wrote another note "what can I do in Spain between July 5-9th" and I'm an idiot!
What are the chances of getting from Madrid to Pamplona on the 5th? and HOW do I do it... doesn't look like there's a train. I don't want to run... but who could passup the chance to see some gore! lol
I don't know if I'll be able to stay the night either with such a last minute decision- but I'd like any advice I can get about it.
Thanks so much,
Pix

Thee are about 5 trains per day between Madrid and Pamplona - see timetable at RENFE; for bus timetables see Movelia. The trip takes about 5 hours.
Here's the website for dates and events at San Fermin.. You might want to check this, but I think the festival starts on 6 July with the first bull-run on 7 July.
Please don't keep starting a new thread each time you have a new idea. I've tried to answered your original question on your other thread.

I'm so sorry to offend Tony.
I thought that a thread titled Madrid to Pamplona would get me more specific responses.
If I could delete my original post (or, rather, if I KNEW how,) I would.
I'm surprized that my only 2 posts have upset you so much.
Thanks for the info. I will look into the flights and trains.

I'm not offended and I'm not upset. You can't delete a thread that you've already created. However, you could have added a post to your other thread saying that you'd changed your mind.
BTW, did you do as I suggested on your other thread and do a Thorn Tree search for "Pamplona" and "San Fermin"? If you do, you'll see that accommodation is going to be a far bigger problem than transport. You will need to spend the night there because the running takes place early in the morning.

If all you want to see is 'some gore' though, there are bullfights every Sunday in Madrid from June to October - no need to trek all the way to Pamplona for that.

In case anyone has searched this thread for info about the running of the bulls here is what I found out...
I did drive around the north and stayed in Olite the night before the running. I got up very early and drove to Pamplona. I parked and walked to the bullring where I bought tickets at about 6:30am. I was very lucky though, since the tickets were sold out - a very lovely woman came up to me and sold me an extra she had bought for the same price.
Anyway, I had to laugh when I saw the post that was upset about my comment on "gore" the gore I was originally referring to was the possibility of human gore, not bull gore (that would have upset me greatly)
As it stands, the running was very interesting, and yes, still quite upsetting. The worst being the baby bulls that were taunted by the runners in the ring afterward. I really did wish I could see some human gore by the end of the ordeal.
I'm glad I went. I won't go again though. It's upsetting. I'm sure it used to be much different than it is now.
