Has anyone stayed in the Hostal Lopez or the Hostal Hjaen in Madrid? If so would you reccomend either? Alternatively, could anyone reccommend any other accomadation for under 100 euros per room per night?
Cheers

I've only stayed in Hostal López but not Huespedes Jaén (a.k.a "Hostal Jaén") - although these two are practically neighbors, both in Huertas Neighborhood - my favorite.
I've read good things about Huespedes Jaén - they have apartments too with free WiFi - and they're located on Calle de Cervantes. Hostal López, located on the long, pedestrian street of Calle Huertas, is a good example of what a Spanish hostel (called "hostal" in Spain/Spanish) is in Spain in that it's family owned and operated, the entire family worked there, and you truly have a family atmosphere when you check in/out. They have some large rooms too and those on the streetside have balconies - which is quite nice on a pedestrian street.
The neighborhood, Huertas, is full of bars (tapas bars and regular bars), and is a short walk to the Plaza Santa Ana and Puerta del Sol in one direction and the Museo del Prado and Retiro Park in the other direction.
Try conducting a SEARCH for these two as I'm pretty sure they've been reviewed by others as well. Same goes for other recommendations for accommodations for under 100 Euros per night in Madrid. Wow, there must be thousands of threads on this topic.
One of the exceptional hostels in Madrid is the Hostal Adriano, located near the Puerta del Sol. I haven't stayed there before but have toured it twice and have heard glowing reviews from nearly everyone. They have free WiFi, an elevator, colorful and well-decorated rooms (like hotel bedrooms), TV, refrigerator, and the staff is quite nice too. They're a bit more expensive than your average hostel (about 63 Euros per night for a double) but it's quite a bit nicer than your average hostel too. In fact, just 2 days ago I was talking with a couple whom were staying there, in the "María Callas Room", and quite happy with it.
If you have other, specific questions about particular hostels just ask. I've toured dozens of them in Madrid, stayed at half a dozen, have read hundreds of reviews about them, and know where nearly all of them are (those which have websites, anyway).
Best of luck and enjoy your visit to Madrid! (I know you will!)
