Hello! My wife and I are excited about the possibility of spending 10 days vacationing in Spain. Since this will be our first visit we want to make the most of our time; see as much a possible without jumping around too much (if that's possible).

We're planning our visit for June/July 2011. We are thinking about splitting our time between Barcelona and Madrid. Appreciate any suggestions you may have...unique things to see, unique places to visit, other cities we haven't thought of? Thank you!

I think you have got it right. Just divide your ten days between Mdrid and Barcelona. That is especially so if your 10 days include your arrival and departure days. Try to buy a ticket that allows you to fly into one city and out of the other. That will save you travelling time.

If you decide to follow up on #1´s suggestion, it would be best to ask how long it takes to get from Valencia to Granada.

The way from Valencia to Granada is not longer than the way from Barcelona to Madrid.

@#3. I said that the OP should ask how long that journey would take, not how far it is. A list of places is not an itinerary. For your information:

Barcelona - Madrid: 2 hr 43 mins by fastest train.

Valencia - Granada: 8 hr 4 mins by fastest direct daytime train. (There is only one.)
Valencia - Granada: 6 hr 40 mins by train using the fastest indirect route. (Change trains in Madrid).
Valencia - Granada: 10 hr 24 mins by fastest daytime bus.

Granada is worth it. Otherwise I would not have recommended it.

@#5. In response to my post you said:

You were wrong, completely wrong. However, I don´t expect you to admit it to the OP (or to me), at least not on the evidence of your previous posts.

By the way, micro123, there are "Web" fares available for the AVE (high speed train) from Madrid to Barcelona for as little as €55.50 if you book in advance. That´s a bargain for a 625 km/388 miles journey

Both routes have more or less the same distance. I'm not wrong at all.

@#8. Is there anything in this that you don´t understand? It is from #2.

You said this in #3.
The way from Valencia to Granada is not longer than the way from Barcelona to Madrid.
I assume you understand that because you wrote it.

micro123, unfortunately thoughtcontrol001 has very little grasp of Spanish geography and public transport.
