Hi,
I'm trying to figure out the best way to get from Granada to Madrid on a Saturday in July. It looks like either bus or train (air schedules are sparse). The train runs at inconvenient times according to renfe.es, so I'm trying to figure out what my bus options are. Specifically, I'd like to know what bus lines run from Granada to Madrid, bonus points for being able to book a ticket now (so I don't have to worry about it between now and then).
Also, I'm looking for an affordable place to stay in Granada where a solo woman traveller will feel safe & happy.
Thanks!

you don't need to worry at all:
there are MANY buscompanies that do the ride from granada to madrid. I would go to the central busstation in granada, see all options, book the ticket. no reason to be nervous now. dont book it now, go and do it when you are there.
in granada are many nice hostels: I stayed at FUNKY and loved it.
yep, I am a solo traveller meself and found granada absolutely safe, even at night.
funky is right opposite the main plaza with all tapas bars and the walk up to san nicholas as well as to the alhambra is easy.
find the hostel and many others at HostelZ.com

There are literally hundreds of places in Granada, almost all of them completely safe., No need to stay in a hostel either!
I'm not so sure that there are "many bus companies" that operate that route. I only know of one: Continental Auto.. Note that they have two classes of bus: scroll down the results page. And, no, I don't know the difference - sorry.
I also stayed in Funky and LOVED it, great place! Had so much fun there and it's really central to the towns centre and the Alhambra.
You could take the bus from Madrid (really pretty route) or the Ave high speed train to Sevilla (is really worth seeing!) and then a train to Granada (again, a very pretty route).

From Granada to Madrid there are direct buses about every hour. The trip takes a little less than 5 hours (including a stop).
A safe and friendly budget hostal:
Pension Lisboa
Plaza del Carmen, 29 (very central location)
