I am planning to visit the Dali Museum in Figueres in mid_september. ( Wednesday ) The website only shows admission times for 9-10am and 5pm and later for advance tickets. Since we will be arriving by train around noon I dont want to hang around all afternoon and was wondering what I might expect for line-ups if we arrive at the museum without advance tickets. We are travelling on to Girona the same day so I'd rather not waste hours in a queue

I arrived at the museum in July at about 11.30 and saw a queue of about 100 meters and decided that it was not worth it to spend so much time in the sun and heat to get into the museum. If the situation is the same when you go is something I don't know nor do I know how much time you accept standing in a queue to get into the museum. The surroundings of the museum also contain some of Dali's works and the part of Figueres next to the museum is part of the old town and I considered it nice. We had a pleasant lunch and did some shopping.

Last time I was there on 26th of April at 4PM, and there was no queue. Not sure what its gonna be like in Mid-Sept, but I can tell you all the touristy places seem to just get busier and busier.

If you're not going to the Dali museum, then in my opinion its not worth going to Figueres at all, but its nice enough for lunch and whatnot. In your place I'd go for a train at a different time.
