Hi

Can anyone suggest a town in France or Spain to base ourselves for good day hiking in the Pyrenees? We'd like to spend 4 or 5 days, a different trail each day (an overnight hike with refugio stay would be nice, too). Moderate (10-20 kms, 300 to 400 meter elevation change). Trail heads accessible by public transport or taxi, to avoid the need to rent a car.
We could also do 3 days somewhere, then move to do a refugio overnight route, too.
Great scenery desired, of course!
Thanks!

Fall, 2018, probably September. And thanks for the link, looks like a good site!

Hi
Luchon (Bagneres de Luchon) can be a good option.
It's easily accessible from Toulouse by public transport (train ticket to Luchon but the last part included in the price of your train ticket is by bus)
You can make a 2/3 days hike to Hospice de France, Port de Venasque (small lakes and gorgeous view to Aneto the highest summit of Pyrenees) and back
Easy day hike to Oo lake or two days hike going up to Espingo lakes and Portillon refuge
Day hikes to small villages with old romanesque churches and beautiful view points.
