I've been looking at ways of getting to Prague from Barcelona - a flight obviously being the easiest. If I was to take my time and make it up there by train, any recommendations on the route we should take? And where we could get off and make an overnight stop or something?

Cheers,
Alisha

By train that is around 24 hours travel time, the fastest way...via Paris.

Of course Paris is a great stopover city. But not just to sleep or spend a day....

If you have a week or more,I'd consider the train trip.If not then I'd fly....

I agree with Luc, going via Paris only makes sense if you have at least 3 full days to spend there.

Flying from Barcelona to Prague will be much cheaper than travelling by train, so I would only do it if you really like travelling overland for long distances and have time to stop for a day or two on the way to get a glimpse at a city. Besides Paris, you could stop in Marseilles, Lyon or Geneva (for example). All are "on the way" to Prague so you will not loose time by going via them. From there, the best connections seems to be to travel by train to Mannheim and there change to a bus.

Thanks Luc & Nathalie! We're starting our trip with Paris 2 months before that and this has been really helpful for me to decide that flying would be best :)
