Ok....we're all booked. Three weeks in Spain with the family. The only thing I haven't figured out is the one night in Barcelona before we fly out the next morning. There seems to be a lot of accomodation choices, but it's very difficult to distinguish between any. Does anyone have any recommendations on a place for 2 adults and 2 kids for just one night? Could be a hotel, hostal, b&b -- anything..... Basically, we're looking for something not too expensive (under 150 Euro) that's fairly central. Being our last night on vacation, we aren't too keen on being stuck in the middle of nowhere.

Thanks for everyones help!!!

Flying out in the morning, if early, perhaps i would go for one at the airport?

Can't help on places of accomodation (I do live in Barna so I don't need it ;) but DO NOT stay near the airport. There is nothing around!

A taxi from the city centre to the airport takes only 30-40 minutes. I would choose a place at the seafront or near Plaça Catalunya, as it will be very easy to arrive and leave.

Good luck!

Are you looking for two seperate rooms or one room for the four of you? This matters, as it means you are either wanting two rooms for under 75 euros each or one room under 150 euros.

I stayed at hotel turin. I think they do rooms for three to four people, it will be around 100 euros. It is basic, but clean, and the location is great, only a few minutes walk from Cataluna Square where the airport buses leave from and right next to Las Ramblas. I am thinking of staying there again when I go in September.

Thanks. Checked out Hotel Turin and it looks good. -- Out of curiosity, what is the area like? My kids are quite small (1 and 3) so I have to be pretty particular about that sort of stuff..... 1 room or 2 rooms it doesn't really matter. I think 1 would probably be best.

I had no problems with the area. It is on a narrow side street just off Las Ramblas. The street is quite lively but we didn't have problems with noise. There are bars, shops and restaurants on the street. I never felt nervous about walking on there late at night between going to Las Ramblas and back to my hotel. With two very small kids your probably not going to be having a wild nightlife anyway. The hotel is okay - nothing to write home about. It is clean, staff are friendly enough (just about service with a smile - standard european hotel customer service) and the bathrooms were clean and spacious, and our room had a big balcony with table and chairs (just be careful your kids don't fancy playing Romeo and Juliet).

The location is so good though, as Las Ramblas is less than a two minute walk, and the closeness to the airport bus means not far to drag luggage!

I forgot to mention breakfast is optional, not part of the room price. We didn't have breakfast. However, loads of places do breakfast on Las Ramblas - whether you want a full English, a croissant and coffee, cereal and toast, or a smoothie and fruit salad, you will find it close by. I found a great bar doing freshly squeezed juice - you chose your own combination of fruit. Juice squeezed in front of my eyes with a chocolate crossiant was breakfast heaven for me! Kids might like creating their own concoctions. It was at the bottom of Las Ramblas towards Catalunya square, and I cannot remember the name of it. Only a few minutes from the hotel.

The Parc Guell area is great for kids, and the kids will LOVE the park with loads of sculptures to play on, a long winding seat in the shape and design of a lizard, sea murals on the ceiling of the building, and plenty of green spaces, including, to top it off, traditional fairy tale gingerbread like gatehouses on each side of the gates at the main enterance (one is a cafe, the other is administrive offices). Bear in mind if your taking an early flight you will not be a short walk from the airport bus so you will need to consider getting a cab to the airport or at least Catalunya square.
