Hi there
My friend and I are planning a two week trip to Andalusia and I'm wondering what is the best form of transportation.

Our itinerary starts in Seville and then we plan to travel to Jerez to taste sherry and then down to Gibralter and ferry to Tangier then to Nerja and up to Granada. Hopefully stopping in Cordoba on our way back to Seville.

Has anyone taken the buses to these towns and had positive experiences?? I'd like to take public transport as much as possible but I'm thinking that a rental car is going to give us the most flexability.

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated !

Hi and welcome to the forum. Your question(s) have been asked here about a zillion times, please use the Search window in the upper right hand corner to get access to many answers.

BTW: The ferry to Tangiers leaves several times a day from Algeciras or Tarifa, the one from Gib only once a week.

Why do you need flexibility? You already know where you want to visit.

I would seriously consider a rental car, particularly if you're visiting off-season when the prices are lower. There are a lot of little villages, ruins, sites and other nooks and crannies in southern Spain that are difficult to get to by public transportation. This is also a wonderful area to explore without too much of a set itinerary. On top of that, it is (for the most part) absolutely fantastic driving country, with lots of variety in the scenery.
