I'm landing in Madrid on July 4th and have until Sunday the 9th to get to a Spanish course in Granada.
Young 35-yr old female alone...
Any suggestions what I should do to "ease" into Spanish culture during this time? I don't want to stay in Madrid, wouldn't mind beaches, but don't want British-University-student laiden party beaches.

What should I do??
Thanks,
Pix

Can I ask? How are you planning to get from Madrid to Granada? By public transport? One other question. What sort of time do you arrive in Madrid on 4 July? I ask because of onward travel.

I am not sure how I will travel... I'm thinking of trains, or busses. I arrive in Madrid around noon on the 4th.
I actually just realized that the running with the bulls is in Pamplona during that time... it is in the opposite direction but it would be a wonderful thing to see. I'm trying to find out how to get there and where to stay.

You have a think about that and then let us know as that will have a huge bearing on where you can go on the way.

Do a Thorn Tree search for 'Pamplona' and 'San Fermin(es)' - there have been loads of threads on the subject. Basically, the 'where to stay' question is answered by 'how much do you enjoy sleeping rough or very basic camping?' Your chances of finding a roof over your head at this stage are practically zero.
