I'm going to Barcelona for 10 days last week of September and I had a couple of itineraries in mind. I'm flying out of Barcelona as well, so I don't really want to venture too far, since I want to come back to Barcelona the day of my flight back. I have been to Barcelona before and did most of the tourist sights at that time. Right now, I have booked accommodation for 6 days in Barcelona and I'm not sure how to spend the remaining 4 days. Here are my options:
A. Go north and stay in Girona. The weather in Costa Brava is going to be pretty cold, I assume, so I'm not sure whether Girona warrants a 4-day stay. I'd like to up to Figueres, but that's about it. Are there anything else you would recommend around that area?
B. Venture south to Tarragona and spend a few days just relaxing and driving around small towns on the coast. I like the idea of visiting small villages and hobnobbing with locals. How's the weather there the 1st week of October? Warm enough to go for a swim? Any other towns you could recommend down the coast?
C. Venture ever further south and spend 4 days in Valencia. Big city, will 4 days be enough to enjoy it? Is getting around the city a hassle?
Any other suggestions?
I don't really want to spend too much time driving around, but I do like local food, wine, and this is basically a time to relax without being rushed and hang out on the beach or in a small idyllic town. Thanks in advance for all your suggestions.
