Hey im planning to drive in portugal in december, the starting point should be sevilla spain,
my biggest question is.
is it worth stoping around faro area for a night, or is it better to drive direct to lisboa and spend those days better in the north (sintra, coimbra or oporto), because my time is limited around 7 days and have to be in oporto at the end (7 for portugal), also any ideas for a romantic hotel to stay for honeymoon, (splurge some $$$)
and last thing is weather in dec. terrible or…

Hello, we are heading to Portugal in the spring and plan to spend 3-4 days in the Azores. Any reccomendations on which islands to spend most of our time? Are dolphin tours worth it, which are best companies for dolphins and best spot?

My husband and I are travelling to Portugal in mid-March for 6 days (arriving on a Thursday, leaving Wednesday morning). Any suggestions on places to go? We were thinking of Lisbon/Sintra for 2-3 days and Porto for 1-2, but that still leaves room for one or two other spots. Any recommendations regarding potential itineraries would be appreciated...thanks!

Does anyone knows the exact dates of the Queima das Fitas festival in Coimbra, Portugal?

We are going to Madeira for a week on 16rd December.
're going to hike only (maybe except botanical garden), almost decided to use public buses only as we always do;

Is Funchal the best place to stay or Canico de Baixo is good as well? (considering we are going to use public buses of course;)

How long does it take to get from C. d. Baixo to Funchal?
We prefer to hike every day and start relatively early; Is it a big advantage to stay in Funchal?

I'm in Lisbon for a few days on work but have lots of free time so would ideally like to stay in a hotel which is central and I can walk around the city and, hopefully, a place to meet other travelers. No budget - I don't mind staying in cheap or 5 star hotels. Its my first time in Lisboa so any suggestions would be appreciated.

Planning to spend 5 days in Portugal in late December early January. Starting with Lisbon. Interested in history and nature and not the beaten track.....where else should we go?

We arrived in Amarante from Porto on the Rondonorte bus about 2 weeks back (late October 2009).

The bus station in Amarante has moved, at least to what is currently displayed on Google Maps and the location given in the Lonely Planet Portugal guide book.

There is a new bus station that is sort of built into the hill side approximately 400 or 500 metres from the old Rondonorte station that was much closer to the river. There are currently sewer pipe repairs in progress, right in front of Hotel…

Hi. Is there any way of getting from the Algarve ( Faro ) to Alicante by train without going via Lisbon and Madrid?
