Hi everyone,
We're coming to Portugal on 1st May and stay 4 days there. Since we have 4 days, we want to enjoy summer life of Portugal as well. Are there any beaches near Lisbon and Porto? If so, is the weather warm enough to swim and sunbath?

Thanks in advance :)

Hey everyone,

Planning a trip to Portugal for mid-July, approx about 12 days to 2 weeks I'd imagine. It's the only country in western Europe I still haven't visited so really looking forward to it!

The current plan is very basic so I am hoping I could get some tips and advice on itineraries if I give you a little info on how our trip will be...

Currently the idea is the fly into Faro, travel through the country over the next 12 days or so and then fly back from Porto. Is this being way to…

I need a little help please. I'm going to Lisbon in two weeks and I'm looking to stay away from the tourist traps. There's nothing better than traveling to new places and being around locals. If someone could give me a few tips, that would be great. Is there something/place that I have to make sure to see or do while I'm out there. Thanks for the help.

Hi There

Hoping for some advice please! Me and my girlfriend are in our 30's and after lots of city hopping holidays, this year we are looking for a relaxing beach holiday with some nice bars and restaurants and the possibility of a few day trips. We will fly into Faro and were thinking that Alvor might fit the bill. I am however, a bit worried that it might not suit our ages.
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Cheers

I am looking for a sociable hostel to stay in Lisbon. I am a female in my early 30s so I don’t want to be surrounded by 18-24yr olds. I will also be travelling by myself so somewhere that it will be easy to meet people. There is a huge range of hostels on hostelworld and they all look really good, its just picking one that suits my age range. Any recommendations?

Hi all,
I have 1 week to get from Evora to Lisbon by car. I was thinking of going from Evora to Monsaraz, Serpa, Mertola in 1 day and stopping in Tavira that night. But is that too much for 1 day? If I stayed a night along the route to Tavira, would it be better to stay in Serpa or Mertola? I would stay in Tavira for 1 or 2 nights, then along to Lagos for 2 nights and back up to Lisbon driving through Sagres and possible Sesimbra. But since I've never been to Portugal before, I'm doing all this…

Hi

I am a 25 year old female planning a solo trip to Portugal this spring/summer. I've read the Lonely Planet Travel Book for Western Europe, reviewed the blogs, and have tried to familiarize myself with Portugal's history, social customs, etc.

Does anyone have any recommendations for getting the most out of this kind of trip? I want to make sure I absorb as much as I can and do Portugal the right way. I want to spend time with the locals and taste, see, smell, hear as much of Portugal as…

Hi,

I'm planning to travel to Portugal next year with my friend. We have an idea that we would like to fly to Porto and go to Lisbon by train and fly back home from Lisbon. We would like to spend some time in these two cities and visit a couple of places while travelling from Porto to Lisbon.

We have planned to be 2-3 weeks in Portugal, is that enough? We don't want to hurry too much, but it would be cool to see a couple of different places and not just the biggest cities.

Any recommendations…

Hello,

Thanks for all the helpful replies to previous posts.

My boyfriend and I are thinking of spending 23 days in Portugal from about May 24th onwards.

Here are my thoughts so far:
1) fly into Lisbon and spend a day or so acclimatizing
2) South: to walk on the new Via Algarviana for 5-7 days. It looks beautiful, and my understanding is we will see lots of coastline and fields.
3) West: this is where the plan breaks down. I thought we could try to go up and inland to Evora or one of those…

Douro Valley

Mid May we are staying in the Douro Valley for 2 nights and then heading back to Porto. Looking for a great place to stay in the Douro Valley with spectacular views. So far looking at Hotel Rural Quinta Do Pego and Quinta de Santo Antonio. Do you have any other recommendations and/or do you know anything about these two places? Also, would you expect it to be very warm (some of the hotels have swimming pools). Thanks so much!
