Hello, we're traveling with our three young children to Portugal in August and have our sights set on the alentejo region. It seems to have the right mix of beaches and laid back towns. But we can't find a place to stay! Does anyone have any suggestions? Don't ask me why we waited so long to book something, blame it on having three kids under 5. We're hoping for seaside lodging, but we're open at this point. Thanks in advance!!!

Actually maybe the Algarve makes more sense for us? The beaches look gorgeous. Beaches are important with young kids. Advice on both so greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Try this link.
It's in a small village in Alentejo, near by the sea, called Zambujeira do Mar. Close to the beach, calm and with enough activity by night.
(If you want you may refer to Francisco that was Fernando a friend of Maria Antónia that sent you there, but that is not guarantee that they will have a place for you, but they might try a little harder, to find a solution.)
Best of luck

The beaches on the Algarve or up the Alentejo coast are all sandy, but the sea will be cold as its not the Med. You probably stand a better chance of accommodation north of Aljezur from the likes of Airbnb or booking.com. The beaches south of Setubal are stunning, but maybe too far for you.
