Hi all,
I have looked in a couple of travel guides that I bought for a trip to Portugal, and also on thorntree and generally online, and can't seem to find good information on what is the best point from which to start if wanting to do some hiking in Peneda-Gerês National Park. We have our own car and would like to do a half-day hike in the park (so maybe 4-5 hours or so) after which we'll head for a hotel somewhere in the area before continuing on to Porto. Where is the best place from which to get information on the various trails that are available? LP suggests Lamas de Mouro, but I cannot find much information online that confirms this, and prefer not to end up there and find there is no longer an information center!
Secondly, how realistic is it to do such a hike independently? I've heard mixed reviews on the signage en-route, that is why I ask.
Thanks in advance! :)
